Camcorders

We Love Video Blogging

camcorder  Late last summer one of our family members relocated 2,000 miles away from all the rest of the crew.  The initial relocation was rough on them and when it came time for celebrating Thanksgiving, they were particularly bummed.  Unfortunately, their new job didn’t come with loads of extra vacation time from the start.  They actually had only one day off and there was simply no justifying travel expenses for just one day.

One of the group suggested sort of a solution.  They said, do a recording and post it on YouTube.  Somehow, with all the technology all of us seem to own, a decent camcorder was not among the items.  iPhone had not yet come out with its 4.0 version that records.  All of us being up for the challenge jumped on this.  With time short, we didn’t have the luxury of online bargain shopping.  But then again all we wanted was something reasonably inexpensive that could record video and sound and then we could post directly to YouTube.  Clearly, not a one of us is even close to professional!

We opted for a Samsung HD (High Definition) 10.0 mega pixel model.  Once you turn it on, it only has 3 buttons.  Simple.  And it was.  We passed the camera around each taking turns recording various sites and well-wishes.  We even got a visiting friend to shoot all of the family delivering a Thanksgiving greeting to our missing member.  Then, within minutes, we uploaded the video to YouTube.  AMAZING!

Camcorder is the blending of the two words camera and recorder.  The days of bulky, gigantic, complicated pieces of intimidating equipment are gone.  You can get just about as simple as we did and go on up from there in terms of degree of sophistication and capabilities.  A good starting point when it comes to selecting a camcorder is having some idea what you’re going to be using it for.  And when you visit some vlogging (video blogging) websites, it can get a bit intimidating when they start talking editing and all.  Relax!  Start slowly, play around with your new toy, and have fun.

Click on CAMCORDER to read what Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia has to say.  I found their article truly helpful for some great background and detailed information (made the salesperson a whole lot less intimidating to me).
